• Master NEWS2 thoroughly — its parameters, scoring, and escalation triggers — since this is one of the most consistently tested UK-specific tools.
• Learn UK medication administration standards, including the "rights" of administration and controlled drug checking procedures.
• Review key risk assessment tools — Waterlow (pressure ulcers), MUST (nutrition), VTE risk — and what each is used for.
• Understand the Sepsis Six care bundle and NEWS2's role in deterioration recognition, since these connect directly to scenario-based decision-making questions.
• Practice applying the nursing process framework (assess, plan, implement, evaluate) to scenario questions.

• Learn the roles within a typical NHS ward team, including healthcare assistants and the multidisciplinary team structure.
