Alabama Real Estate Salesperson Exam Study Tips

October 1, 2026

Sort the Look-Alike Terms

Much of the national portion tests whether you can tell two similar terms apart. Study them in pairs and write one sentence on the difference:

Turn the Violations List Into Scenarios

Violations make up 15 of the 40 state questions. Reading the list is not enough, because questions describe conduct and ask whether it is a violation. For each prohibited act, write a one-line example: a salesperson takes a bonus check directly from a seller; a broker agrees to keep everything above the seller's net price; a listing has no fixed expiration date; an ad shows the salesperson's name larger than the company's. If you can produce the example, you will recognize it on the exam.

Keep One Sheet of Alabama Deadlines

Group the time limits so they don't blur together:

Use Current Law

Alabama license law changed on October 1, 2025. If a flashcard says "transaction broker," the current term is "transaction facilitator." If it gives a maximum fine of $2,500, the current maximum is $5,000. The law now also defines teams and lets a qualifying broker designate single agents when two licensees in one company represent opposite sides.

Make Math Routine

Do five math problems a day rather than fifty in one sitting. Rotate through commission splits, seller net, loan-to-value and points, prorations, area and acreage, and capitalization. Check each answer for reasonableness: a seller's required sale price must be higher than the net they want, and a property tax bill on a modest home should not be larger than the home's assessed value.

Review Misses by Topic

After each practice quiz, tally wrong answers by content area, not just the total score. A 75 percent score with every miss in financing tells you exactly what to study next. A 75 percent score with misses scattered across topics means you need more mixed practice and more careful reading of each question.
